The mission of the College of Arts and Sciences is to provide students with an intellectual, cultural and scientific foundation for academic and professional education. Its programs are designed to develop and inspire the intellectual and creative potential of students and to encourage them to conceptualize, reflect and act.
The programs offered in the CAS are Communications, Computer Sciences, Economics, English Language and Literature, Environmental Sciences, International Studies, Public Administration, and Translation and Interpreting. The CAS offeres courses within these programs in the following areas: Arabic, Biology, Chemistry, Communications, Communications Skills, Computer Science, Cultural Studies, Economics, English, Environmental Sciences, Geography, History, International Relations, Linguistics, Literature, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Public Administration, Sociology, Statistics, and Translation.
CAS also offers an Intensive English Program designed to enhance the students′ English language, an important skill for success in the academic and professional programs.
CAS prepares students to:
master written and oral expression in English
master quantitative reasoning, scientific inquiry and method
develop the critical ability to analyze and synthesize data and information.
examine the many varied aspects of Islamic, Western and other cultures
build an understanding of moral and ethical dimensions.
