The mission of the College of Engineering at the University of Sharjah is to prepare students for engineering careers in both the private and public sectors. On completion of any of our undergraduate programmes our graduates will have:
Acquired a broad base of engineering knowledge, understanding and skills, as well as depth in a desired area of specialization.
Found their program of study demanding, interesting and intellectually stimulating, and also had the time to enjoy other aspects of university life.
Developed the ability to apply knowledge and understanding in the process of engineering design.
Experienced appropriate modern methods of teaching, learning and assessment.
Developed a range of transferable skills, including knowledge of information technology, independent learning, verbal and written communication, time management, presentation skills and teamwork.
Gained an appreciation of the needs of industry and awareness of recent developments in engineering, assisted by staff involvement in research and consultancy and the involvement of industrialists in the teaching programs.
Developed an appreciation and understanding of the ethical and social issues related to engineering.
The general aims of the College of Engineering are as follows:
To provide a high quality, intellectually challenging education that prepares our graduates to make a positive contribution to society.
To provide sufficient breadth and depth of knowledge to satisfy the accreditation requirements of the professional institutions.
To equip students to learn for themselves both at university and throughout life, through mastery of a wide range of transferable skills.
To provide training in research, leading to higher degrees within a stimulating and supportive environment.
To make a significant contribution to the knowledge and understanding of engineering at national and international levels.
To act as a focus and source of engineering expertise for local industry, including provision of Continuing Professional Development training.
