The College of Arts and Sciences shares ownership for the University′s goal of graduating students who have acquired the knowledge and skills needed for successful careers and leadership roles. The faculty of the College are fully committed to fostering students′ achievement of the Zayed University Learning Outcomes, to fulfilling their critical role in delivering the course-based General Education Learning Outcomes, and to defining and guiding students toward Major Learning Outcomes in each of its programs. Building and fostering quality and competitiveness of programs, faculty and students are of paramount importance. Contributing to the advancement of the U.A.E. through research, service and outreach is a special responsibility and privilege. The College sees itself as the heart of the institution, and recognizes its responsibility for maintaining its strength and effectiveness in serving the needs of Zayed University.
The College has a four-fold programmatic mission:
To offer substantive, socially meaningful and career-relevant academic majors for students who wish to pursue their studies in the College of Arts and Sciences
To contribute significantly to students′ general education by designing and offering a range of courses in appropriate knowledge domains that enhance both subject knowledge and the learning of critical skills
To serve the needs of the professional colleges by providing elective courses in the humanities, art and design, social/behavioral sciences, and natural/quantitative sciences
To provide, through the Readiness Program, an opportunity for students to develop their English communicative skills to baccalaureate entry level, in addition to language-embedded foundation work in information technology
The College′s Academic Programs
The College of Arts and Sciences offers the following five academic majors leading to a baccalaureate degree:

Social and Behavioral Sciences
Degree: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

Course Requirements in the College
Each major in the College includes the following specific requirements:
An intermediate or advanced English writing course
Proseminar (orientation into the major)
Core courses for the major
Electives (selected in consultation with the major advisor)
Internship
Capstone seminar or project
To graduate with a degree in an Arts and Sciences program, the student must earn at least 120 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.0. Students generally take their required and elective General Education courses in the first four semesters and complete their major requirements in their third and fourth years of study. Some of the majors may advise or require students to take specific General Education courses to strengthen their preparation for that major.
