General Description
The program′s mission is to provide an academic and professional focus on social and behavioral analysis, policy development and management. The program offers a major in Social and Behavioral Sciences, which can lead to a wide variety of possible careers. The program also is responsible for a range of General Education courses in the Culture and Society domain.
A unique combination of analytical skill, social and cultural understanding and practical expertise is a prominent feature of the Social and Behavioral Sciences program.
The objectives of the program are to
provide a major for students who are interested in understanding, analyzing and eventually leading the United Arab Emirates in its social, economic and cultural development;
sustain a core of General Education courses, especially in the Culture and Society domain; and,
build partnerships with key organizations to support applied research, projects, policy development, meaningful internships and other academic and career opportunities for students.
Required Courses in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Major
These are essentially the same as those specified for all majors in the College of Arts and Sciences:
SBS 300 Proseminar
SBS 490 Internship
SBS 499 Capstone Course
Intermediate or advanced writing course
