Generally, all purchases at or above US$10 Million (Dhs 37 Million approx) that are procured by the UAE Armed Forces or elements thereof would be subject to offset obligation.
The UAE Armed Forces requires all companies that are to be considered as qualified vendors for a procurement of US$ 10 Million (Dhs 37 Million approx) and above to sign an offsets contract. The UAE Offsets Group is responsible for all aspects of the UAE offsets program including: negotiating offset contracts, carrying out an assessment of the contractor’s offset proposals, making recommendations on the merits of contractor’s proposals, monitoring offset compliance and crediting. The UAE Offsets Group also, from time to time, assists contractors in assessing proposals, formulating business plans and implementing offset projects.
Mode of Finance
UAE Offsets Group pre-approved profitable UAE joint venture companies with UAE partners are the only activities that will yield offset credit.
Profit from a UAE joint venture is the only input variable that will result in awarding credits.
