General Description
SABIC was founded in 1976 to foster the petrochemical industry and other hydrocarbon-based industries through its ventures with foreign partners, and to market their products. It is 70% state owned.
Mode of Finance
SABIC is owned by the Saudi Government (70%) and the private sector (30%). Private sector shareholders are from Saudi Arabia and other countries of the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
