General Description
Aims of the Association:
1/Enable the journalist to fulfill their professional mission, and guarantee them the freedom necessary to fulfill such a mission in accordance with the provisions of law, and within the framework of moral, national, and pan Arab responsibility.
2/Observe the profession′s code of ethics, principles and traditions, and the conduct of the profession to endeavor to upgrade itslevel and participate in the development of the profession, and the training of journalists.
3/ Participate with all other information institutions and bodies in spreading all outstanding forms of human culture and knowledge, enhance awareness of national responsibilities, promote national, pan Araband Islamic sense of pride, and spread sublime human virtues and values derived from the humanitarian, Islamic and Arab civilizational identity.
4/ Foster good relations and cooperative links among Jordanian press people with a view to raising the standard of the profession, and settle any professional disputes among them.
5/ Strengthen the links and bolster collaboration with the Arab Press Federation and the press association in Arab and foreign countries.
6/Protect the professional rights of members; offer them social and cultural services.
History
The Association was fouded in 1953
Constitutional Framework
The Association functioning in accordance with the Jordan Press Association Law N° 15 for the year 1998. In its dealing with the executive power the association is attached to the Ministry of Information.
