General Description

The Mission of the Ministry aims implementing the objectives of the agricultural policy charter which is:
- Increase Jordan′s self-reliance in basic foodstuff.
- Assure sustainable production and resources without damaging the environment.
- Increase farmers′ income and improve their living standards.
- Provide an appropriate climate for investment in the agricultural sector.
- Develop rural areas and enhance their productivity.
- Conserve and efficiently utilize the agricultural resources and environment;
- Attain equity between the agricultural sector and the other sub-sectors as well as within the sector itself. and
- Encourage the youth and all society members (males and females) to work in agricultural production.

History

The Ministry of Agriculture was established during the Emirate era in 1939.
