General Description
Functions:
°Dealing with urgent matters such as riots, fights and celebrations.
Organizing patrols in areas of competence.
°Implementing plans for mutual support between neighboring directorates.
°Handling disasters in areas of competence.
°Isolating and seizing crime scenes and areas of fires or explosions.
°Assisting police directorates in carrying out their duties, and controlling checkpoints on main roads.
°Setting up ambushes and checkpoints in coordination with the headquarters
History
On 16th January 1997, the General Director ordered the formation of an Emergency Force in every police directorate, and on 14 January 1999, command of emergency units was moved from the police directorates as they became affiliated to a centralized headquarters, under the name Rescue and Emergency Police
