General Description
Licensing of Firearms:
The Jordanian Firearms and Ammunitions Act forbids the carrying or possessing of firearms without proper legal licensing. People with unlicensed firearms are considered in violation of the law, and whenever seized, weapons shall be confiscated and offenders shall be personally prosecuted. The following types of licenses are observed:
Carrying Licenses:
Such licenses are granted to Jordanian and foreign diplomats residing in Jordan. The latter are subjected to reciprocal rules for licensing requirements and fees applies.
Carrying Permits:
Such permits are given to guards working at security companies, and are only granted following a security clearance of the guard. The permit only permits its owner to carry his weapon while on duty.
Possession Licenses:
Those are granted to ordinary citizens wishing to keep a firearms at home, and are only approved following a security clearance of both the firearms and the applicant.
