The main objective of MDTC is to utilize scientific knowledge and technology to serve the different needs of the local industries in the following fields:
Designing, manufacturing and heat treatment of moulds, machines and spare parts using CAD/CAM.
Packaging and corrosion problems in food canning industries.
Testing and evaluation of local and imported metallic and plastic products and materials.
Qualifying welding procedures and welders and running special short-term training courses.
Mechanical failure assessment.
Providing special services and technical consultations in the fields of NDT for the quality control of industrial products.
Applying research and consultation in heating technology.
Measuring and monitoring the external exposure of all radiation workers in Jordan.
Measuring radionuclide contamination “radioactivity” in food, detergents, fertilizers, … etc. for imported and exported products and environmental samples
History
The Mechanical Design and Technology Centre (MDTC) is one of the foremost functioning centres at RSS. It was established in 1971 as a result of the scientific realistic attitude prevailing at RSS then, which emphasized the necessity of establishing an applied industrial research base in Jordan.
