The main areas of interest to the center are development and social changes, social inequality, Poverty and unemployment, gender inequality, violence against women and children, social problems, and social policy. The Center is dedicated to academic and professional excellence through cooperating with the best and most experienced researchers in the country, and through the utilization of the most innovative social research techniques (quantitative and qualitative). The Center hopes to bridge the gap between academic research and concerned institutions through policy-oriented research. The Center cooperates with governmental and non-governmental as well as regional and international civil society organizations that have similar interests and concerns. The center also provides consultation in variety of issues for national and international organizations.
History
The Jordan Center for Social Research (JCSR) was established in (1998), as an independent and not for profit institution. The center aims at fostering and promoting scientific knowledge about the various aspects of Jordanian and Arab society.
