Mission and objectives:
The Centre is concerned with applied and environmental microbiology in the Arab region MIRCEN′S main objectives include:
- Providing the infrastructure for a world network incorporating regional and inter-regional cooperating laboratories geared to the management, distribution and utilization of the microbial gene pool:
- Reinforcing efforts relating to the conservation microorganisms;
- Fostering the development of new inexpensive technologies for the region;
- Promoting the applications of microbiology in order to strengthen rural economics;
- Serving as a focal centre for the training of manpower and dissemination of biotechnology and environmental information
