Semaf was established in 1955 as a leading company in the railway rolling stock industry in the Middle East. Its services cover the demand of Egyptian railways of freight wagons, passenger coaches, metros and rolling stocks. SEMAF is provided by all facilities needed for building the rolling stock from the design office and different shops for car building and also well established bogie shops besides the highly sophisticated inspection department. SEMAF produced during the last period more than 20 different types of freight wagons covering capacities from 10 tons up to 265 tons. Annual production in 900 wagons with one shift. In the field of passanger coaches production, SEMAF started in 1969 to produce 3 RD class coaches and developed during the last period to cover 3 RD, 2 ND and 1 ST class, ordinary and air conditioned passenger coaches, with buffet or brake compartment, also ambulances coaches, trailers, brake, post, luggage, perishable vans and power coaches. Annual production is 150 coach In the field of tram cars and metro production, SEMAF started in 1978 to produce tram cars, metroes and recently in the production line underground metroes for greater cairo. Annual production is 100 trams, trailer and motor driving cars. During the last period, SEMAF established very good relations and technical agreements with the famous rolling stock builders all over the world as well as SEMAF is aware of purchasing the main components from world high famous companies. SEMAF already exported 25 container flat wagons to Srilanka.
