History
Orascom Technologies began as a division of Orascom (Onsi Sawiris & Co.) in 1987 and initially represented Hewlett-Packard for mid-range computers, peripherals, and test & measurement equipment. Orascom managed to elevate Hewlett-Packard′s position in the Egyptian market from a virtual unknown to the number two hardware brand.
Today, Orascom Technologies serves as a distributor for a host of information technology industry leaders including Hewlett-Packard, American Power Conversion, Microsoft, Oracle, Novell, Netscape, and Lucent Technologies, to name a few. These products are distributed through a direct sales force and a sophisticated mix of trade and retail channels.
