The Agricultural Guidance Section has been created at Abu Dhabi Municipality to supervise, the erection, developing and serving of farms of local citizens at the western region and Al Khatem.
In the Agricultural aspect real achievement has been attained by the supply of agricultural marketing and structural materials necessary for the farms. This could be divided to: items provided at no cost such as land leveling, fencing, seeds distribution, well drilling, installation of water pumps further to items supplied at half of their price e. g. water pumps, boxes and bags for packing vegetables, fencing items, fertilizers and storing boxes.
At the technical level, and due to the great expansion in the number of farms, there has been a necessity for improving the efficiency of the section staff through arrangement of training courses for the agricultural guidance posts to develop theirs kills. Furthermore, there has been an expansion in making researches related to the various aspects of agriculture, and consequently the results are used to put down regulations and solve any existing problems. This is carried out through continuous supervision and follow up of the farms by the guidance staff who provide the necessary technical advice to the farmers with regard to the timings and methods of planting, irrigation styles and pest control as well as providing the results of irrigation water analysis, and directing how the cultivation plan should be applied, and its suitability (the plan) to the farm category. The Agricultural Guidance Section has also issued the magazine of “Agricultural Guidance”.
