UANPC is an electricity generation and water desalination company located some 10 kilometers northeast of Abu Dhabi City. The Umm Al Nar Power Company currently employs a staff of 799, and has the installed capacity of 1200 Megawatts of electricity and 80 Million gallons of desalinated water per day. Currently UANPC is in the process of expanding their desalination capacity for an additional 62.5 Million gallons per day for commissioning in years 2001 and 2002.
Umm Al Nar Power Station (UANPS) is located on the UAN island some 20kms East of Abu Dhabi city and is one of the largest in the UAE and is close to the load center as such transmission losses are minimal, Umm Al Nar Power Company comprises of UAN East, UAN-West and Baniyas Power Stations, all of which together have a combined installed capacity of 1184 MW & 164.4 MGD of desalinated water making UANPC the largest potable water producer on the grid.
