Food and Environment Laboratory Section′s job is to:
- Conduct microbiological, chemical and physical analysis on samples of food stuff, water, air and other environmental samples as required, including tests to check radiation levels;
- Conduct specialized tests on samples of agricultural and animal products to check for residues of insecticides, growth hormones and fungal toxins by using best technologies;
- Conduct laboratory analysis to check adulteration of food items so as to provide effective protection to the consumers from the sale of adulterated goods;
- Receive, as directed, food and environmental samples from Municipalities of other Emirates in the country and conduct the necessary laboratory tests on them as required.
