General Description
The Center is established envisaging the following aims:
To produce seeds of commercially important fishes and shrimps by artificial methods and grow them to marketable size.
To contact biological and hydrographical surveys and research.
To train UAE Nationals and fishermen to use aquaculture techniques.
To help similar activities in the country.
To produce large quantities of artificial seeds of commercially important fish at low cost and restore them in the sea to increase the natural resources of those species.
To cooperate with similar regional and international organizations.
History
The UAE Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has a mangrove a forestation project in the UAE Marine Resources Research Center for creating fish nursery areas to increase fish resources, protection of coastal areas from erosion and making green areas along desert coasts, and this activity has been going on since 1985.
