General Description
This unit is responsible for improving the UAE’s position in the global economy. To meet this end, this grouping:
Outlines macro-economic policies and makes appropriate recommendations.
Emphasizes studies oriented toward lessening reliance on hydrocarbons.
Promotes the role of the private sector in the national economy.
Coordinates closely with other units in the department.
With oil as a pillar of the national economy, this unit’s objective is to assess world energy markets in order to optimize national revenue streams. A related role of the unit is to monitor international investment opportunities and provide recommendations to decision makers charged with national investments. To meet these goals, the department:
Follows developments in oil, natural gas, and other energy markets.
Studies the probable impact of fluctuations in global oil and natural gas markets and production on the national economy.
Suggests preferred methods of investing surplus oil and natural gas revenues.
Recommends methods for diversification of the oil sector.
