The department of Physiotherapy at the University of Sharjah is committed to:

Provide professional programs of academic excellence.
Prepare physiotherapists for the practice of Physiotherapy in a variety of settings.
Contribute to the advancement of health care in general and rehabilitation in particular.
Collaborate with the community for the enhancement of the health care services. The University of Sharjah offers the first program in the UAE leading to a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (BScPT). The program is offered in affiliation with McMaster University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Hamilton, Canada.

The Four-Year program is designed for graduates of secondary schools, or for students who transfer in Physiotherapy from other universities programs. The program takes a minimum of four years of full-time study during which students complete 140 credit hours.

The entry-level educational curriculum includes the study of:

Applied Sciences – Theoretical and clinical practice courses where students learn to provide Physiotherapy intervention, e.g., biomechanics, exercise physiology, in the musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory and neurological areas (54 Credit Hours).
Biological & Clinical Sciences – Including courses in Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology and Pharmacology ( 27 Credit Hours).
Health Sciences – Including courses in Scientific Inquiry, Research Methods, Professional Issues, and Physiotherapy Management and Leadership (26 Credit Hours).
Other Sciences – Elective and required courses selected from university offerings, including Arabic and Islamic Studies, English, Sociology and Computer Sciences ( 33 Credit Hours).
Professional practice or clinical education is an integral part of the curriculum. Students spend 1008 hours in a variety of clinical settings under the supervision of physiotherapists, throughout the curriculum.
