The Anatomy Department teaches all aspects of the morphological sciences, primarily in the first four years of the curriculum. During years one and two, Anatomy contributes to the Medical Sciences Course. In the first year, basic embryology, the histology of basic tissues, and the topography of the limbs and thorax are examined. In year two, the anatomy of the abdomen, pelvis, perineum, and head and neck are studied. During years three and four, we contribute to the Organ Systems Course. We teach the histology and embryology, and review the gross anatomy of the organ systems of the body at this time.
The Anatomy Department also takes part in the clinical teaching by providing expertise in multidisciplinary seminars.
The Faculty of Medicine is well equipped for histological, TEM and SEM techniques, and is involved in immunocytochemistry at both the LM and EM levels. In addition, contemporary techniques in molecular biology are being used.
