The goal of the Chemical & Petroleum Engineering Program is to produce graduates who are prepared to enter into the profession of chemical and petroleum Engineering, and who have the desire and ability to remain proficient in state-of-the-art engineering throughout their careers. The fundamental objective of the chemical and petroleum Engineering program is to educate the students so that they can comfortably and successfully practice engineering and deal with the challenges pertaining to the engineering career. This objective reflects a national one that is stated in the constitution of the United Arab Emirates University, which is to help in developing the country through provision of high quality education to its people.
The program objectives can be summarized as follows:
1. To provide students with an integrated educational experience so that he/she can apply pertinent knowledge to the identification and solution of practical and theoretical problems in Petroleum Engineering. To achieve this goal, the curriculum is designed to give students:
Fundamental knowledge about nature and its phenomena.
Provide a bridge between basic sciences and engineering practice using engineering sciences.
Orient students in the important technological problems of industry through various applied problems and one semester of practical training.
Provide students with a broad background in social, economic, and environmental issues.
2. To conduct theoretical and applied research, some of which involve the assistance of students, in the major areas of petroleum engineering.
3. To provide professional services to the university and community through consultations and professional societies.
