In accordance with the objectives of the UAEU and those of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, the main objectives of the Department are to:
study human societies from a scientific perspective so as to enable the students to have a better understanding of their society and its culture; and to intensify their sense of belonging.
provide the graduates with important tools needed for careers in both public and private sectors, e.g. Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Planning, social development institutions, and cultural and research centers.
ascertain the close relationship between theoretical and applied approaches through sociological empirical studies, seminars, and social and cultural changes.
cooperate with related local institutions in order to upgrade workers’ performance in the fields of social research and development.
