The Central Laboratories Unit (CLU) has been providing analytical support and services to the faculty members of the university and to private and governmental agencies since it was established in 1997. Initially CLU set up classical analytical facilities, but because of the expansion of graduate programs and research activities at UAEU, a number of specialized laboratories and sophisticated analytical equipment have recently been set up. Some well-trained specialists have also been recruited.
The five basic sections of CLU – Wet Chemistry, Chromatography, Spectroscopy, Physical Chemistry, and Trace Metals keep their facilities up-to-date to support the research and development work and to introduce new analytical methodologies.
All analytical methodologies and analysis systems are regularly checked for accuracy and reproducibility by analysis of reference standards and very soon by participation in interlaboratory comparison programs. CLU offers services extending from BOD & COD of different products to analysis of essential and toxic elements in water, food, vegetables & fruit, to analysis of amino acids, vitamins, lipids, and pectines in different products.
CLU offers analytical services for a wide range of materials in such areas as petroleum, energy, environment, food, agriculture, biology, geology, and engineering.
