The Mission of the COE is to facilitate continuous improvement of education at all levels in the UAE through active, collaborative partnerships with the Ministry of Education and Youth, the zone schools and Colleagues throughout the University. It will fulfill it′s mission by excelling in teacher preparations, research/scholarship, outreach/service, program development and policy development.
The College of Education (COE) intends to be the pioneer in facilitating continuous improvement of education and educational systems at all levels in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As a result, it seeks to enhance the quality of life in the UAE and in the lives of the people served.
History
The Faculty of Education was one of the first four Colleges in the University. Classes began in the academic year 19771/1978. The Faculty of Education extends its special status in the University and the Society from the essence of its mission, the nature of its mandate, and the multitude of its roles.
The Faculty has witnessed many efforts toward development and improvement, which aimed at identifying the best formula to fulfill its mission and implement its objectives. The most important development has been the introduction of the new five years curricula, which leads to "Bachelor in Education with Teaching License". Such curricula ensure a strong academic background coupled with proper professional (educational) training. The new system of Education curricula provides subject teachers in preparatory and high schools with a strong academic background while studying towards a bachelor degree in arts or science in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences or the Faculty of Sciences respectively.
