Today′s international economy increasingly relies on technological advances, and the success of businesses on access to information. New and developing businesses in the UAE have a large need for innovation in IT. The Institute for Technological Innovation (ITI) is a partnership between Dubai Internet City and Zayed University and will address this need.
To ensure that UAE citizens reap the full benefits from their investments in technology and commerce, now and in the future, their participation in the full spectrum of leadership roles is vital. The supply of managers, venture capital or an advantageous business climate is no longer sufficient in itself. There are several roles to be played within a successful business market, such as that of the engineer, scientist, technologist, inventor, financier, economist, etc.
The initial focus of the ITI′s programs will be in the areas of Information Technology and E-commerce, with its overall mission to put the UAE amongst the major global leaders in its development and use. This multifaceted challenge requires valuing the sciences and engineering discipline as much as the entrepreneurial application of new technologies. In cooperation with Dubai Internet City, ITI offers three main programs. Establishing and nurturing an appropriate cultural orientation and building skills for an appreciation of problem solving will be integral parts of its programs.
1. The IT Training & Certification Academy:
To address the need for trained information technology staff.
2. The Industry-based Research and Development Program:
To bring to fruition innovative research and developments of relevance to the UAE.
3. The Executive Seminar Series:
To provide an interface between foremost experts in leading-edge technology and executives in the
UAE.
Housed in a professional environment, the Institute will act as a quality control agent. In addition, the ITI will provide advice on configuring and maintaining IT infrastructures, training employees and obtaining technical support from repair technicians and helpdesk staff. A repository of IT knowledge and expertise, ITI will also generate new ideas through its research and development functions.
