EIBFS has been directing its efforts toward upgrading the knowledge and skills of banking professionals, as well as in creating a pool of UAE nationals capable of pursuing careers in the banking and financial sector. The stated objectives of the Institute is to:
raise the standards of performance of bank employees in the UAE
qualify UAE nationals for a successful career in the banking and financial sector, and
attract UAE nationals to the banking sector, train them in banking operations, and build a reservoir of qualified nationals in the banking sector.
History
The Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies is a national training and educational entity founded in 1983 to cater to the human resources development needs of the UAE Banking sector, therefore it established the banking diploma program. Since that time, many students have been graduated from the program. In 1998, an agreement was signed with Chartered Institute of Bankers, London, U.K to raise the standard of the Banking Diploma program and to ensure its academic integrity. In 1996, EIBFS took a step forward by signing an agreement with the Institute of Canadian Bankers, Montreal, Canada. This agreement formed the basis of cooperation for offering the Higher Banking Diploma Program. Since its inception in 1997, many students have graduated from the program.
