Bainounah Power Company is one of four power and desalination companies formed out of the unbundled WED. The three power and desalination stations were the Abu Dhabi Power Station (ADPS), the Al Ain Power Station (AAPS), and the Taweelah A Power Station (TAW A). The fixed assets of Bainounah Power Company comprise some of the oldest and some of the newest technology in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Bainounah Power Company is charged with the task of managing the assets and staff for the overall operations and maintenance of the three former WED power stations.
The total combined output from Bainounah Power Company represents some 33% of the national demand for power and some 10% of the national demand for water.
History
Bainounah Power Company was created on January 1st 1999 by the Unbundling of Al Ain, Abu Dhabi, and Taweelah A Power Stations from the previous WED government organisation
The three stations were then combined to form an independent company now known as "Bainounah" Power Company.
Constitutional Framework
BPC was formed pursuant to enactment of Law No. 2 of 1998.
