The Department of Research, Analysis and Information Technology undertakes the following functions:
1-To conduct research and prepare studies and reports in various political, economic and cultural fields as well as in the fields of arts, the media and on countries when it is commissioned to do so.
2-To provide and develop political, economic, cultural, artistic and other data and information to put at the disposal of various MOFA departments and Qatari diplomatic missions abroad and integrated database.
3-To study, design, implement and maintain automated information systems with a view to developing MOFA′s work and submit technical proposals on them.
4-To process automatically MOFA′s data and information and supervise their entry and retrieval as well as issue of relating information and reports.
5-To operate MOFA′s computer network, develop it, organize its use and regulate its processes.
6-To monitor and document major political, economic and other news on the State of Qatar, in particular, and countries of the world, in general.
7-To classify and maintain documents and prepare systems and measures needed to ensure secrecy of information systems.
8-To design and present internal training programs for MOFA′s staff in the information field in coordination with the Training and Human Resources Development Office at MOFA.
9-To provide advanced services for MOFA′s Library and provide it with sources of specialized knowledge relating to diplomatic and consular services.
10-To undertake translation and interpretation services for subjects, documents, reports and activities relating to MOFA′s activities.
11-To issue publications on the State of Qatar and provide the media and press institutions with such publications.
12-To link computer systems at MOFA with Qatari diplomatic missions abroad.
13- To prepare the Diplomatic Pouch and ensure secrecy of its contents.
