The GCC Affairs Department performs the following functions:
1.To promote and develop bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and GCC Member States and act to attain GCC′s objectives in political, economic, cultural, technical and other domains as well as monitor developments in these countries.
2.To study reports from the GCC General Secretariat, state opinion on them and refer them to competent authorities as well as analyze and assess reports and studies from Qatari diplomatic reports in GCC countries and state opinion on them.
3.To study and follow up issues and reports referred to it on conditions and developments in GCC Member States as well as relations between the State of Qatar and GCC countries.
4. To study, assess and evaluate decisions and reports issued by GCC and its agencies and committees and propose means to implement them as well as monitor their implementation, in coordination with competent Ministries and other governmental institutions.
5.To coordinate with GCC General Secretariat and other governmental institutions on summit conferences and organize the State of Qatar′s participation in these conferences as well as prepare studies and reports needed for such participation.
6. To discuss and coordinate with competent authorities inregard to their powers covering economic, cultural, technical and other issues referred to MOFA by GCC countries, GCC General Secretariat or joint GCC committees with a view to studying them and state opinion on them.
7.To prepare studies and reports needed to promote common action and develop cooperation among GCC Member States in political, economic, cultural, technical and other domains, in cooperation with competent authorities.
8.To prepare drafts of agreements to be concluded with GCC Member States, in cooperation with MOFA Legal Affairs Department.
9.To monitor and direct Qatari diplomatic missions′ activities at GCC countries.
10. To coordinate, monitor and develop relations with GCC Member States′ diplomatic missions in Qatar.
11.To monitor and assess reports published in GCC press with which the State of Qatar is concerned as well as state opinion on needed procedures or recommendations thereto, in cooperation with MOFA Information and Research Department.
12.To monitor and study bulletins and other publications issued by GCC Member States′ missions in Qatar and state views and comments on them.
13.To prepare, monitor and coordinate official visits by high-level delegations from GCC Member States.
14.To prepare for works of joint GCC committees, participate in such meetings and follow up decisions adopted by them.
15.To prepare necessary reports on the State of Qatar′s relations with GCC Member States and update information therein.
16.To prepare regular reports on Qatari diplomatic missions′ activities in GCC Member States.
17.Preparing periodical reports on the activities of the diplomatic missions to the GCC.
